ELIGIBILITY
The ILL service is available to currently enrolled UE students, currently employed faculty and staff as an aid to research. Each library user is encouraged to consult reference librarians to assist in the search for local materials. Back
WHAT MATERIALS CAN BE REQUESTED?
Many materials (books and photocopies of journal articles) are available from lending libraries. Often, items that are considered "rare" are not available for loan. Videocassettes and entire volumes/issues of journals are usually not available for loan. Dissertations and theses may be borrowed from some universities. Back
WHAT IS THE COST?
Usually there is no cost for interlibrary loan service. You are, however, given an option to indicate what dollar amount you are willing to pay, if a loan exceeds the maximum amount the library can absorb. Back
HOW LONG CAN MATERIALS BE KEPT?
The loan period (usually three to four weeks) will be indicated on the gold book strap encircling each ILL book. Renewal of books should be requested two to three days prior to the due date. Renewal forms are available at the Circulation Desk or you may renew using the electronic renewal form (illrenew). Some libraries are not willing to grant renewals, so please plan to pick up and use ILL materials promptly. The lending library may also specify conditions for use of materials, such as "no copying permitted" or "IN-LIBRARY use only". These restrictions will be noted on the gold book strap. Patrons are responsible for the safe return of book loans to the Circulation Desk. Failure to observe interlibrary loan rules may result in the loss of borrowing privileges for the library user.
Photocopies of journal articles may be kept by the user. Back
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
It may take five to seven days to receive materials, depending on location and availability. Requests are usually transmitted electronically. Materials located within Indiana will be sent via courier. Because we cannot predict the location or availability of an item, we cannot guarantee that material will be received within a specified time period. Borrowers are encouraged to submit interlibrary loan requests well in advance of deadlines. Back
HOW TO APPLY
Verify that the required material is not owned by the University of Evansville Libraries by checking the Journal List and ACE Catalog for books and periodicals. Complete an Interlibrary Loan Request for each item needed. Select one of the following to submit a request. Back
HOW WILL I BE CONTACTED WHEN MATERIALS ARRIVE?
When books are received the borrower is notified by telephone or e-mail. Books may be picked up at the Circulation Desk when the library is open (hours). Photocopies of journal articles are sent to the requester via campus or regular mail. Back
